Sikkim accident: 16 troopers killed as Military truck falls into gorge

In a tragic incident, three Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and 13 troopers of the Indian Military had been killed when a truck through which they had been touring fell right into a deep gorge in North Sikkim on Friday (December 23). The Indian Military stated in a press release that the accident occurred in Zema.

The car through which the jawans had been touring was a part of a three-vehicle convoy that had moved from Chatan in the direction of Thangu within the morning. In accordance with reviews, 4 Military jawans injured within the accident had been air-evacuated for remedy.

The military stated the accident car was a part of a convoy of three autos, which had moved from Chatan in the direction of Thangu within the morning. On its strategy to Jemaa, the car skidded at a pointy flip and fell right into a gorge beneath. A rescue operation was launched instantly after the accident and 4 injured troopers had been airlifted.

Expressing grief over the accident, Protection Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the lack of lives of Indian Military troopers as a consequence of a street accident in North Sikkim. The nation remembers their Heartfelt gratitude for the service and dedication.

My condolences to the bereaved households. Praying for the speedy restoration of these injured.” President Draupadi Murmu has expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of the courageous troopers of the Indian Military in a street accident in Sikkim.

“My heartfelt condolences to the households of the deceased. I pray for the speedy restoration of the injured,” the President stated. Congress chief Rahul Gandhi has additionally expressed grief over the demise of the troopers. “Shocked to listen to the information of the tragic street accident in Jema, Sikkim through which 16 of our courageous military personnel have misplaced their lives. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved households. Wishing a speedy restoration to the injured,” he wrote on Twitter.
